“How do you know what to write?” – is a question often posed to me by friends who cannot understand why I enjoy picking up a pen and scribbling down words for fun. To me writing is just a simple form of expression. I see something interesting and it builds up a chain of similar things in my mind that I want to write about. As simple as it may sound, I have actually noticed that it is not always easy to know what to write particularly if it does not come naturally to you hence this brief article.
The first thing that comes to mind is observation. Many times we walk around without observing changes in our surroundings such as new road signs which are supposed to be relatively easy to spot. While it is important that our attitude in this regards should change, observation should not be limited to our immediate environment alone but also include current affairs and events.
In addition, mere observation of things in our environment or indeed current affairs may not be what we want to write about. Perhaps we want to say something about popular issues that a lot of people will be interested in. If this is the case then a quick visit to the Google AdWords page could be very useful. There you would find popular phrases and topics people are interested in. Picking one or two of these popular topics could also provide you with something to write about
