Finding Health Insurance That Is Good for Both Body and Wallet

If you don’t            https://www.monalise.dk/                 have a job or can’t get affordable health insurance through your employer, you are certainly not alone. The number of uninsured Americans only increases with time. Some of the uninsured are those who have lost their jobs. Others are employed but are unable to afford the health coverage that is offered by their employers.

It may often feel that there is nowhere to turn for the uninsured but there are inexpensive health insurance plans available if you know where to look. There are many websites now available that will help you sort through your options for affordable health insurance. Many of these sites only provide information on the private companies offering health insurance which is one of the reason many individuals feel they have already exhausted their options.

Most private health insurance companies offer coverage options that are all too high for most uninsured Americans to afford. The websites that limit their search results to these companies can be discouraging for uninsured individuals who believe they will never find a plan for themselves or their family that will give them the coverage they need without making them go broke in the process.

The best insurance search sites are those that include all health coverage options available to customers. These sites will detail every source of available insurance coverage including private companies and government-funded plans.

Many of those who lose their jobs may elect to carry COBRA coverage until they secure a new job in which health insurance is offered. While COBRA is designed to allow people to have health insurance while between jobs, not all individuals are able to afford the coverage offered. They may need to look for less expensive coverage on their own rather than electing COBRA.

Low-income individuals may qualify for Medicaid coverage. Many people mistakenly think that Medicaid coverage is only available to those who are unemployed. This is not the case. Even if you don’t qualify for Medicaid, you’re children may so you should check out Medicaid availability before you consider purchasing a private health plan.

If you have been denied health insurance by a private company because you have   health conditions, you may still be able to get insurance through a state high-risk health insurance plan. While the coverage from these plans is generally expensive, it may be the only coverage available to some individuals and therefore should be considered alongside other available options.

Private insurance companies offer a variety of individual and family health insurance plans. These plans are similar to those offered by employers to their employees but can be more expensive as you do not receive the discounted group rate that is offered to your employer who has so many people participating in the plan. They are an option for those individuals who are between jobs or self-employed and need to find their own health coverage.

Short-term health insurance plans are an option for those who are between jobs. These plans allow you to have coverage until such time that you qualify for coverage from your new employer’s medical plan. While the premiums on these plans can be too high for some individuals, the option is available and may be the right choice for some.

Health insurance discount plans are another way of saving money on your health coverage costs. While these programs are not insurance plans, they can be an excellent source for getting less expensive health services for you and your family members. Discount cards are issued for a small monthly membership fee. You then pay discounted rates for doctor visits, prescriptions, lab work, x-rays or hospital visits. These cards can be a good way to save some money on everyday medical care and wellness visits but they will not do much for you in the event of a major health crisis so you should still consider getting full health coverage in the future from another provider.

Group Health Expense Sharing Plans and Group Health Insurance through membership in an  may be other options for those seeking affordable coverage. Group Health Expense Sharing Plans are not truly insurance plans. They are groups in which individuals can pool their money in order to pay for health care expenses. These plans usually invest the pooled funds of members in order to generate interest money that will help fund health care expenses costs for the contributors.

If you belong to any large , you will want to see if they have group insurance available. Some  offer health insurance coverage to their members. These plans are less expensive than individual or family health coverage you can purchase directly from a private insurance company. The large number of members who participate allows such group plans to have lower

Low Cost Health Insurance Options Are Overlooked

Let’s stick                    https://www.monalise.dk/               with the concept that something is better than nothing. Low cost health insurance alternatives are the only solution to millions of people right now. If you’re uninsured you either don’t have a job, don’t have enough money to pay for an expensive plan or you don’t have good enough health for a standard plan. Which category are you in?

This article is dedicated to a couple of overlooked health care options that millions of uninsured Americans can afford yet they don’t have. Spreading awareness about these options is vital in helping improve our health care crisis.

The negative affects of not having health insurance are very straight forward. You end up with medical collections that ruin your credit and tax payers cover your bill. This is one of the reasons health care costs keep going up as the insured are now under more strain to help compensate for all the uninsured. Finding a low cost health insurance alternative that actually is within your financial budget can save you from adding to this problem.

There are two plans cheaper than short term health insurance that stick out and remain ready and waiting for you to jump on. The great thing about these plans is you don’t have to worry about being turned down. Anyone under  of age can   If you’ve already checked for a short term plan and can’t afford the premium then this is your solution. One of these two low cost health insurance options will be within your reach.

Your first option is a form of supplemental health care. A fixed indemnity plan pays you a fixed amount of cash when qualified medical services are needed. The coverage is very broad and for many individuals a fixed indemnity plan is all they will ever need. Only a major, life changing health condition would be enough to outweigh the protection of these plans. A fixed indemnity plan is one of the most valuable dollar for dollar health care options available today.

The plan provides network discounts like an HMO, so you save money on your medical needs. Most insurers give you a card that you use like a credit card when you need a medical service. Fixed indemnity plans are low cost health insurance plans simply because you pay the monthly premium and don’t have to worry about a deductible or co-insurance costs. There is a set cash amount credited you for each service you receive. For example, a visit to your doctor would bring you a $50 credit. If you needed a name brand drug prescribed while you’re there, you would receive a $25 credit for the prescription.

The plan also covers allergy shots and  outpatient medical events, surgery,  ground and air ambulance, emergency room or urgent care and inpatient hospital confinement. The primary insured on the plan also receives a built in life insurance policy to cover final expenses. If you’re stuck in the hospital, you’ll receive $2,000 a day for illnesses and $4,000 a day for injuries. As you can see, there is plenty of value in these plans, but how much do they cost you might wonder?

The cost of your premium for a fixed indemnity plan is based strictly on your age, but can also be affected by where you live. existing conditions are not covered under these plans so you’re not or any health conditions including smoking. In most cases, the premiums are slightly higher than short term premiums…usually between $20-$50, depending on the deductible and co-insurance you might choose for a short term plan. As stated though, you avoid the cost of deductibles and co-insurance with a fixed indemnity plan.

For a base example, a 35 yr old male would pay $120 a month. This same male with an equal aged spouse and one child would run a monthly premium of $330, a slight discount for family pricing. By way of comparison, you could easily pay $330 just for yourself without factoring in the rest of your family or deductibles and co-insurance using a traditional health insurance plan.

We highly recommend   Health’s “Health Access” fixed indemnity plan. It’s a very mainstreamed, popular choice used by many large scale companies like Wells Fargo for their employees. This is a tremendously underused health care plan that millions of uninsured people need to start considering as soon as possible.

The other option is a simple health discount plan. This is by far the cheapest route and for good reason. Health discount plans are not insurance, so technically it really isn’t low cost health insurance. Regardless, it remains at tremendous value when  .

You receive discounts on services you select that cover your entire family. There are three choices you can choose to receive discounts for and we will again use   Discount Plan for this example. You can pick any combination or all of the discount options to   your plan.

The first option is the medical discount plan which saves you up to 40% on physician and hospital services, prescriptions, dental and eye care. This option costs $20 a month. The dental and vision plan provides discounts on a broader range of services including eyeglasses and vitamins for $10 a month. There is also a prescription discount plan for $8 a month that covers additional drug, hearing and nutritional care.

Combining all three plans together provides substantial discounts for your family for about $38 a month. This is as cheap as health care plans get. The sad fact is that there a countless uninsured families who could easily afford the $38 a month for a discount plan like this and they go without. If you can afford to combine both of these low cost health insurance options together we strongly suggest you do.

Having a fixed indemnity plan with a health discount plan on top of it makes sense. You’ll   your protection and still be paying far less than you would with any standard health insurance plan. It all comes down to understanding your health care options and being proactive.

You’ll need to check to see if your state will allow you to   in either their “Health Access” fixed indemnity plan or the Health Discount Plan as coverage isn’t available in every state.

These plans need to be on a much greater level if America’s health care problem is going to start improving. Now that you’ve read this page, spread awareness!

Boost Health and Productivity With a Wellness a Program

Over the                  https://trevonbranch.tech/                            last 20 years, we have seen the emergence of a major trend in North America: employee health and wellness are suffering. In Canada and the United States, there have been alarming increases of hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Between 1994 and 2005, the rates of arterial hypertension among Canadians increased by 77%, diabetes by 45% and obesity by 18%, affecting people of every age. Even more concerning is that hypertension rates among Canadians aged 35 to 49 rose 127% during the same period, and almost doubled among young people over the last 15 years (CBC News). The long-term effects of these issues will be dire; for the first time in decades, life expectancy has decreased in the United States, according to a study by the   for Disease Control and Prevention published in December 2010.

Health care costs increasing
For employers, these factors should be worrisome, since research shows that employee health directly impacts work behaviour, attendance, on-the-job performance and, of course, health care costs. According to the 2010 Health Care Cost Survey by Towers Watson, employers are now paying 28% more for healthcare than they did just five years ago, and employees are paying 40% more.

Retaining talent
A serious challenge faced by businesses today is a high turnover of qualified, motivated and loyal workers. Many employers are failing to support and sustain their best people and create trusting relationships with their employees. The evidence: according to a report by   74% of workers are passive job seekers ready to consider a move. In today’s competitive markets, employers must find new ways to attract and retain the best and brightest talent. One way to do this is to offer employees an environment that promotes healthy and active lifestyles.

Root of the problem
“Seventy-five percent of health care costs result from unhealthy lifestyles,” writes Barbara  senior vice-president, human resources for Union Pacific Corporation, in her article, “Long Train Running”. In health matters, factors such as smoking, physical inactivity and poor eating habits are responsible for the vast majority of health risks and their associated costs.

There is good news for employers, however. These leading causes of illness are largely preventable. A 2007 study of more than 200,000 employees, conducted by the University of Michigan, determined that 61% of employees have two or less health risks, 28% have a moderate risk (three to four risk factors) and only 11% have an elevated risk (five or more health risk factors). The study determined that reducing health risk factors could save an employer US$354 per employee, per year, for an   of 1,973 employees. These are savings that can add up quickly.

High performance companies: health and wellness leaders
Businesses today are left with no choice but to create a healthy workplace culture if they want employees to perform to their best potential. High performance companies such as   Food Markets and Google have understood the profound connection between employee health, productivity and insurance costs. According to a report by the   Foundation, “more than 75% of high-performing companies regularly measure health and wellness as a viable component of their overall risk management strategy.” A survey conducted by Towers Watson and the National Business Group on Health “found that 83% of companies have already revamped or expect to revamp their health care strategy within the next two years, up from 59% in 2009. This year, more employers (66%) plan to offer incentives for employees to complete a health risk appraisal, up from 61% in 2009. Also, 56% of employers now offer health coaches and 26% now offer on-site health centres.”

And it’s working! The Public Health Agency of Canada reported that by implementing a physical activity program, Canada Life in Toronto improved productivity and reduced turnover and insurance costs while achieving a return on investment    conducted by the U.S.   for Disease Control found that “comprehensive worksite health programs focused on lifestyle behaviour change have been shown to yield a $3 to $6   for each dollar invested.” According to a report by the   Health Group, out of the Top 100 Employers in Canada, 77 have a structured wellness program in place and those who track the results generally find their expectations are met or exceeded.

If you ask the managers and HR directors of these Top 100 companies about the benefits of workplace wellness programs, they will tell you benefits include decreases in insurance costs, absenteeism,  and turnover rates; increases in productivity and recruitment; and improved creativity and overall motivation of the workforce.

How to build an efficient wellness program
Corporate wellness programs should focus on changing poor health habits in order to maintain affordable benefits coverage. A successful wellness program will help employees improve their physical health, improve communication throughout the  improve the workplace culture.

number of factors that will affect the success of wellness programs. Firstly, commitment must come from top management; the leaders of the company must be convinced of the value of the endeavour and must lead by example. Secondly, the program should be structured and integrated; managers need to define a comprehensive wellness strategy that is integrated to the business strategy, with a budget, timeline and thorough planning of resources. Third, the objectives of the program must be linked to the business objectives and the needs of employees, meaning that the program must be well integrated into the management system.

the importance of effective communication. As stated in the Harvard Business Review’s article, “The Pillars of an Effective Workplace Wellness Program”, “Wellness is not just a mission-it’s a message. How you deliver it can make all the difference. Sensitivity, creativity and media diversity are the cornerstones of a successful communications strategy.” Backing up the launch of a wellness program with a strong marketing and communication strategy prevents employee cynicism and   and builds employee enthusiasm and excitement.

There is one very critical action that must be taken to ensure a wellness program achieves a return on investment; the entire implementation process should be based on a detailed diagnostic that evaluates the global health of the business and the health risk factors of the employees. Conducting a diagnostic to uncover employee needs and the most common health risk behaviours allows companies to invest in real problems, which drastically improves the potential return of the wellness program.

Wellness Coordinators: Approach Employee Health Holistically (You Can’t Afford Not To!)

There are                https://trevonbranch.tech/               multiple determinants to health. And you do want to address as many as you can through your work site wellness program, correct?

Essentially, in the workplace setting, employee health is determined as a function of individual practices,  practices and the greater community in which   resides. In order to approach employee health holistically then, the workplace wellness program must address these three levels.

Individual Health Determinants

Researchers estimate that the individual determinants of health account for up to an estimated 40% of how healthy an individual is. At the individual level, biology, genetics, age and gender all impact individual health. Researchers estimate that these physiological determinants of health account for approximately 10% of how healthy an individual is.

Researchers have also found that an individual’s experiences in childhood impact how healthy they are in adulthood. Experiencing trauma in childhood adversely influences how healthy they are in adulthood.

Individual lifestyle factors, personal health practices and coping skills also play a significant role in how healthy an individual is. Researchers estimate that these could account for up to 40% of how healthy an individual is.

The traditional approach to worksite wellness has typically focused on individual health and lifestyle factors and personal health practices in particular.

Determinants of Health

Researchers have clearly established that a person’s health is also determined by social and economic factors, as well as individual factors. These are commonly classified as the social determinants of health. Research has estimated that the social determinants of health account for between 15 – 40% of how healthy the individual is.

Management practices in the workplace contribute significantly to employee health and  Management practices can either contribute to or detract from employee health and

The work environment clearly influences and impacts the health and   of employees. There is extensive evidence on the connection between the workplace and employee health and  . Many workplace conditions profoundly influence employee

If the workplace is unhealthy, why would we ever expect employees to be healthy? It is for this reason that effective, successful 21st century worksite wellness programs focus just as much on   health, as they do individual employee health.

Community Determinants of Health

Employees and employers do not exist in isolation. Both are influenced by the community in which they live, work, play and operate. Typical community determinants of health include the physical environment (air quality, water quality, sanitation, etc.), the social environment and the cultural environment. Included in the environment is access to healthcare and social services.

While healthy employees are good for an employer, healthy work places are good for the community. Being seen as a great place to work is good for the employer, but also good for the community. The more great places to work there are in the community, the healthier the community will be.

Through corporate social responsibility type initiatives, employers are also contributing to the health of the community.

Worksite wellness in the 21st century is more than just a focus on the health status of employees. Worksite wellness encompasses programming and interventions at the organizational and community levels as well.

Insulin – Pharmacology, Therapeutic Regimens, and Principles of Intensive Insulin Therapy

Since the introduction  https://starmedpharmacy.com/    of insulin analogs in 1996, insulin therapy options for type 1 and type 2 diabetics have expanded. Insulin therapies are now able to more closely mimic physiologic insulin secretion and thus achieve better glycemic control in patients with diabetes. This chapter reviews the pharmacology of available insulins, types of insulin regimens, and principles of dosage selection and adjustment, and provides an overview of insulin pump therapy. For complete coverage of this and related aspects of Endocrinology, please visit our FREE web-book, www.endotext.org.

Go to:
INTRODUCTION
In 1922, Canadian researchers were the first to demonstrate a physiologic response to injected animal insulin in a patient with type 1 diabetes. In 1955, insulin was the first protein to be fully sequenced. The insulin molecule consists of 51 amino acids arranged in two chains, an A chain (21 amino acids) and B chain (30 amino acids) that are linked by two disulfide bonds (1) (Figure 1). Proinsulin is the insulin precursor that is transported to the Golgi apparatus of the beta cell where it is processed and packaged into granules. Proinsulin, a single-chain 86 amino acid peptide, is cleaved into insulin and C-peptide (a connecting peptide); both are secreted in portions from the beta cell upon stimulation from glucose and other insulin. While C-peptide has no known physiologic function, it can be measured to provide an estimate of endogenous insulin secretion.

SOURCES OF INSULIN
With the availability of human insulin by recombinant DNA technology in the 1980s, use of animal insulin declined dramatically. Beef insulin, beef-pork and pork insulin are no longer commercially available in the United States. The United States FDA may allow for personal importation of beef or pork insulin from a foreign country if a patient cannot be treated with human insulin (2). Beef insulin differs from human insulin by 3 amino acids and pork insulin differs by one amino acid (1).

Currently, in the United States, insulins used are either human insulin and/or analogs of human insulin. The recombinant DNA technique for human insulin involves insertion of the human proinsulin gene into either Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast) or a non-pathogenic laboratory strain of Escherichia coli (E coli) which serve as the production organism. Human insulin is then isolated and purified (3-11).

INSULIN ANALOGS
Recombinant DNA technology has allowed for the development and production of analogs to human insulin. With analogs, the insulin molecule structure is modified slightly to alter the pharmacokinetic properties of insulin, primarily affecting the absorption of the drug from the subcutaneous tissue. The B26-B30 region of the insulin molecule is not critical for insulin receptor recognition and it is in this region that amino acids are generally substituted (12). Thus, the insulin analogs are still recognized by and bind to the insulin receptor. The structures of three rapid-acting insulin analogs are shown in Figure 2 (insulin  and the structures of three long-acting insulin analogs are shown in Figure 3 (insulin
